H.E. Mr. Le Hong Lam Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the Kingdom of Norway
Mr Le Hong Lam was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) to the Kingdom of Norway by the SRV President, H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong and presented his credentials to His Majesty King Harald V of Norway on February 13th 2020, becoming the fourth Ambassador of the SRV since 2009 when the Embassy of Vietnam was reestablished in Oslo.
Ambassador Le Hong Lam assumes the current post after having served as Director General of Department of International Relations at the Office of the Government of Vietnam (OOG, i.e. Cabinet Office) for more than 7 years. His previous diplomatic experience was a tour at the Embassy of Vietnam in Washington D.C. the United States where he worked as a Counsellor, Chief of Economic Section from 2007 to 2012.
Prior to his tenure at the Embassy of Vietnam in the United States, Ambassador Le Hong Lam worked as a foreign affairs secretary to the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, then departmental deputy director on external finance at the Office of the Government, focusing on Vietnam's external finance management from 1992 to 2007. Before that period, Ambassador Le Hong Lam worked as a senior researcher of international relations at the Institute of International Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Le Hong Lam was a graduate from the College of Diplomacy of Vietnam, where he was awarded a B. Sc in International Relations in 1984. During his time at the OOG, Ambassador Le Hong Lam obtained a postgraduate degree in economics from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies and a Doctoral Degree in Economics from the Hanoi-based Institute of World Economics and Politics.
Ambassador Le Hong Lam is happily married to Nguyen Ngoc Lien with whom he has two children. He likes music, sports and travel.
